A qualified British Teacher or governess possesses the following attributes:

• A teaching background, higher education in childcare, and five years of childcare/teaching experience.

• The ability to teach a musical instrument or sport.

How much will a Teacher/Governess cost?

A governess is often placed with clients abroad. She/he frequently lives with the family and works five days a week, for up to twelve hours a day with down time, often alongside a nanny or nurse. The requirements and responsibilities are substantial, but a suitably qualified British governess can expect to earn a salary starting from between £700 to £1500 per week. Remuneration increases the greater the experience and education of the individual.

Our one day seminar explains everything you need to know about the expectations whilst working as a governess, in a high profile family in the UK and overseas.
The recruitment process will be explained in full and you will have a one to one session, allowing you to ask as many questions as you wish and to gain a full understanding of the opportunities offered.
Priority for our top roles will be given to candidates who have attended the course, since many of our clients prefer their vacancies filled with our trained governesses.

Most of our clients are high profile and VIP families, both in London and overseas. Security and privacy are vital to these clients, so you will not usually see opportunities like these advertised, except by specialist recruitment providers.
Salaries for governesses are higher than those for nannies and can typically be around £1,000 – £1,500 a week. This reflects the high standards offered in care and education by a governess and good candidates are constantly in demand from our clients. Top conditions of work and additional benefits are often standard and many households are fully staffed.
Nannies and teachers who wish to become governesses and who have not previously worked in high profile households, will benefit from the advice and information we provide.
